I searched and searched for this cake pan! Produced in the 1970’s it measures 9 ¾ x 8 ¾. It has handles for easy transfer from oven. I don’t bake all the time, so I also use it for serving. Last week I used it to serve a fresh green bean stir fry. I knew we would not have leftovers, so I did not use my casserole dishes that have plastic lids.
The cake pan comes in the Blue cornflower pattern. I have not seen any other patterns online, but there are known to be test pieces out there for different items. It is always really cool to see new patterns and models pop up online. I browse eBay, etsy and mercari.
Here’s how I make my green bean stir fry.
Stir Fry Green Beans
Ingredients
1 lb. Fresh Green Beans, trimmed and blanched in hot water.
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 Teaspoon Ginger, minced
1 Garlic Clove, minced
½ Small Onion, slices
1 Tablespoon Oyster Sauce
1 Teaspoon Sesame Seed Oil
¼ Teaspoon Sugar
½ Cup Water
1 teaspoon Red Chili Flakes (optional)
Sesame Seeds for Garnish
Also:
2 Tablespoons Water
1 Tablespoon Corn Starch
Instructions
1. To thicken sauce, mix water and cornstarch into a small bowl and set aside.
2. Mix sauce and set aside: oyster sauce, sesame seed oil, sugar, chili flakes and water.
3. In a wok or skillet, heat the olive oil, ginger and garlic. Stir fry for 30 seconds.
4. Add in green beans and onions to wok/skillet. Stir fry until tender, and add the sauce to the wok. Continue cooking for a few more minutes. To thicken sauce add a bit of the cornstarch mixture, small amounts at a time until sauce is thicken to your preference.
5. Serve and garnish with sesame seeds and more chili flakes for spice.
