My husband, son and I made tamales by ourselves for the first time this past weekend. This is usually a family gathering event. Everyone helps with the wrapping process. It is a fun occasion that generates lots of conversations.
I used my 7 inch .75 Quart for this photo. It holds half a dozen tamales easily. When we make tamales, we make enough for the event, for take home portions and leftovers for the next day when everyone comes back to eat tamales at the host’s home.
This Corning Ware piece is great for small portions. The plastic and glass lid that fits the 1 quart will fit this one too.
Always inspect your pieces for chips or cracks. The Blue Cornflower pattern began in 1950’s. Most pieces are in good vintage condition, but look under the handles for hidden damage. If you see any chips or cracks, avoid cooking in it as it could cause the dish to break. I have a few pieces that have some chips and I use them for storage in my pantry. For example, to hold single serving tea bags.
