When it comes to collecting Corning Ware, I prefer the vintage pieces. When CorningWare released some new pieces in celebration of their 60th anniversary, I bought a few. Some of the newer pieces are stoneware, so remember those are not as versatile as Pyroceram.
A favorite piece from the 60th Anniversary set is the Portable Casserole Set. It includes a 3 quart casserole dish, plastic lid and an insulated bag. The insulated bag is beautiful! It has the Blue Cornflower design that was an icon in the 1950’s through the 1980’s and in my opinion today.
The casserole dish is white and can be used to bake and then serve your food. It’s classy and polished. It will match any tablescape. The plastic lid makes it storage friendly. You can use the dish to bake (no more than 450° F), store and freeze. The casserole and lid are microwave-, refrigerator-, freezer- and dishwasher-safe.
The 3 quart casserole dish measures 15.75" L x 11" W x 3.63" H. I use it to make my breakfast casserole. It’s perfect to take with you to a family or work event. The insulated bag keeps it warm and easy to transport.
I want to share this easy recipe. I call it Jonny’s Breakfast Casserole because it’s my little boy’s favorite breakfast or brunch dish. I serve it in my vintage Centura Blue Cornflower lunch plates.
